About yael

Yael is mom to a very curious boy who is quite the little scientist - intent on figuring out how everything works. He also loves painting with any medium - whether it be with a paintbrush, a spray bottle, or with fingers.

What you need: Paper towels, Markers - water soluble, Water Cups, Scissors

What you do:

  1. Cut the paper towel into ~1 inch strips.
  2. Color a line towards the bottom of the strip, about 1 inch from the end.
  3. Add some water to the cups.
  4. Carefully place the paper strip into the water. The end with the color line should be in the water, but only the tip of the paper towel should touch the water.
  5. Watch what happens as the color moves up the paper towel.

Questions to explore:

  • Try different color combinations. What happens?
  • What happens when you try different kinds of milk? Non-fat? Whole?
