Any ideas to put on my list of indoor activities to do on a snowy day?

The kids love the snow but sometimes we don't want to bundle up in layers and go outside to play. I'm trying to come up with a list of indoor activities for the winter that we can do together. What do you all do when the weather gets cold?

One of my children's favorites is to get a tray (like a cookie sheet) and run outside to put mound of snow on it! They make holes for little rabbits, dens for bears and penguins... they paint it build, and play for an hour or more! They also love this! http://www.kiwicrate.com/s/project/index/p/1000

I recently read this article about a 9-year-old who built an arcade using cardboard boxes and masking tape: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2012/04/arcade-from-cardboard/. Looks like hours of fun and creativity!

Thanks Yvonne! What a great story...love to see kids working hard on their own creative projects.

Huge paper chain! See how long you can make it. The nice thing is that each kid can work on their section at their own pace, and then connect them all together. Paper snowflake cutting is also fun - glue the prettiest ones to folded paper to make cards for thank-you notes. If your kid is a perfectionist, let them write the note on a separate piece of paper and then glue it into the card when they're happy with it.

I really like the idea of a huge paper chain! Maybe practice patterns too by alternating colors on the chain.

Saw a cute idea where kids build cars, trains, or buildings using different types of pasta & glue (lasagna makes a good base, ruote for wheels, and rigatoni for columns to add levels). I think I might have enjoyed building more than my kids. ;)
