Here comes the marching band! Use items around the house to make a kazoo.

How We Did It

Cardboard Tube Kazoo
Decorate your paper towel tube with markers, crayons, or stickers.
Cardboard Tube Kazoo
Cover one end of the tube with wax paper. Pull tight and secure with a rubber band. Using a pen or pencil, poke a small hole in the wax paper.
Cardboard Tube Kazoo
Poke a small hole in the middle of the tube with a pen or pencil.
Cardboard Tube Kazoo
Let the music begin! Experiment with what makes the best sound. Cover the hole in the middle with your finger or cover the end for a different sound. For the most authentic kazoo sound, HUM INTO THE END WITHOUT THE WAX PAPER and keep the wax paper at the bottom end!

Thank you for posting! We loved this project. We used it as a bird caller. We made binoculars with toilet paper tubes at the same time. And then we walked around outside calling and looking for birds! It was a blast! Thank you!

What an adorable project! This is awesome and perfect for the kids! I really loved the materials you put to complete the features this kazoo. We did a DIY Kazoo project out of the same materials you used. You should check it out! :) EarlyLearning.Momtrusted.com: DIY: Kazoos
