How We Did It
Gather your materials. We had a lot of egg cartons after dyeing eggs for Easter, so this was a great project to use some of them up. We used washable paints and acrylic paints for our flowers. The younger kids used the washable paints and the older kids were able to use the acrylics.
After the paint dried, I carefully used a knife to make a hole in the bottom of each egg carton cup. This was actually much easier than I thought it would be and I managed to make all of the holes without cutting myself!
I cut off a small piece along the end of each pipe cleaner. We used those to make leaves for our flowers. The kids twisted them around the stem and then we shaped them to look like leaves. I cut our pipe cleaners because we only had enough for each of the kids to have one pipe cleaner, but you could easily make a larger flower by using another pipe cleaner for the leaf.
To finish off their flowers, each of the kids picked a pom pom ball and glued it inside their flower using tacky glue. I find that tacky glue holds pom pom balls much better than regular glue.
