Flower Pin
Making our own gifts is something I try to do with my my kids often. I love that they learn to use their creativity to make special gifts for people they love. It also makes them very proud and excited to give a gift they created with their very own hands. I love that enthusiasm!
What You'll Need
- tacky glue
- buttons (for flower center)
How We Did It
We found some old event buttons to make our flower pins. We have a lot of these laying around from various fundraisers and events. I love when we can revamp things and give them a second life.
First cut your felt into different abstract shapes (similar to cloud shapes). These will be your flower "petals." Glue down a piece of felt that is larger than the button.
Once your first piece of felt is glued down, your child can cut around the button to trim off the excess felt. This was easier for my daughter than I had expected it to be. She could easily cut the felt using the button edge as her guide.
Once the base felt is trimmed, it's time to start adding smaller sizes of felt.
We added a small button for the center of the flower, but a tiny piece of felt or any small trinket would have been fine. We also cut some leaf shapes out of the green felt and added those on for the perfect finishing touch.
My daughter loved her new buttons and was really excited to give Grandma this special birthday gift. Of course she ended up making a few to keep as well.
