A toothbrush (yes, a toothbrush!) is the secret to these imaginary galaxies. Add your own black holes, planets, rockets, or alien spaceships!
They wanted all sorts of stars in their galactic scenes, so we put a bit of paint out for dipping. I showed them how to rub their fingers over the toothbrush bristles, sending little tiny droplets flying over their papers.
While we waited for the stars to dry, Maddie and our friend made their planets. First they decided on the size, and traced them, and cut them out.
put rings around others (it was my job to cut out the 'inner' part of the ring). The rest were marbled or smeared with oil pastels. When the planets were glued into their proper places, the kids added rockets!
