What You'll Need

How We Did It

Ice Skaters
We chose crayons for this one, so they wouldn't smear when or if our skaters got a little wet (as ice skaters sometimes do!).
Ice Skaters
We took a heavy piece of white paper, folded it in half, and folded it in half again. We wanted them sturdy and strong, so the paper would be doubled. Maddie drew her skaters.
Ice Skaters
We put a bit of glue between the two papers, to hold them together while she cut them out. When they were cut out, we opened them up and put glue all over, and added a popsicle stick between the paper sheets.
Ice Skaters
We found little snack bowls that had the depth of our sticks, and filled them with water accordingly.
Ice Skaters
Next we placed foil over the top of the bowl and cup, then pierced the foil so we could put in our sticks. We placed them in the freezer, and held the skaters in place with clothes pins until they froze.
Ice Skaters
When they were solid, we took them out and ran water over the outside of the bowls to release the ice. We had skaters! Ready for tricks and spinning, ready to be tied to a string, and ready for racing!
