Miniature Teepee

Miniature Teepee

Make an easy teepee out of sticks and paper for hours of pretend play. The teepee we made was big enough to fit dolls and stuffed animals.  We learned a lot about early Native American life while we acted out stories and learned how to construct our teepee.

How We Did It

My daughter and her friend took long strips of white butcher paper and painted the paper brown.

While the paint was drying on the paper, we took four of our strongest, straightest sticks and tied them together tightly with twine.

Next, we propped the rest of our sticks up against the four we had bound together. This was super easy and the girls had fun with it.

I helped the girls fasten the paper around the teepee with a few staples and they were ready to play. We relocated the teepee indoors to protect the paper from imminent rain and I think it's going to be a fixture in our play corner for quite some time. We are reading some books about early Native Americans and my daughter loves to play with the teepee while she listens to me read, acting out the stories with her dolls. What a fun way to learn!
