Moroccan Jeweled Cup
We decided to learn about Morocco and as I was researching their customs, I found out they created wonderful jeweled cups. So we decided to make some of our own.
How We Did It
First pick up some wine glasses. My daughter deemed the ones we found at the dollar store to be fancy enough for this, so we took them home and started peeling off price tags.
Next start putting your glitter glue on your cup. We found it best to have the cup slightly tilted as we put it on, because if it was straight up and down the glue had a tendency to slide off.
If you decide to add jewels to your cups, which are part of the Moroccan cups, make sure you use lots of glitter glue. A big huge glob. Otherwise the jewels will fall off and your child WILL cry.
We figured out adding glitter glue at the bottom of the cup made for a nice touch, but adding them to the stem made it harder to hold them.
When you're all done give it several hours to dry before trying to use them. We tried using them only an hour later and the glue wasn't quite dry, so it smeared slightly.
Since creating them we've used them for several different meals, including when family came over.
One final word of caution. These are hand wash only cups. I've washed them several times now (this is what one looks like after a couple of washings). If the glitter glue is in a very thin layer it will come off slightly, and I'm getting the feeling the glitter glue will slowly come off with time, but until then they are a much loved glass for special meals.
