Plastic Egg Fireflies
Activity DesignerMelissa Klinker
These little fireflies are very simple to make with very little tools involved. The best part: with some LED lights they flicker just like real fireflies in the dark!
What You'll Need
How We Did It
We started by cutting one pipe cleaner into 6 even pieces. These are the legs. Using the awl, or a sharp instrument, poke 6 holes (3 holes in a row on each side) into the top part of the egg, the pointed part.
Insert the 6 pipe cleaners into the six holes, pulling a little from the inside of the egg to secure. Bend the pipe-cleaners to make feet.
Next cut the other pipe-cleaner in half. These will be the antennae. Using the awl, or a sharp instrument, poke 2 holes across from each other into the bottom part of the egg, the wide, flat part. Insert the antennae and curl. Next glue on your wings.
