Here's a great project for little readers! Kids can create a fun, fluffy bookmark...and then find a great book.
How We Did It
Start by cutting off a 5-inch long piece of yarn. Set it aside--you'll need it later to tie the mini pom-pom.
Hold the fork in one hand and start winding the yarn around the
prongs of the fork about 20 times. Don't wrap it too tightly or it might be difficult
to remove from the fork later. Then wrap the 5-inch piece of yarn around the middle of the
yarn. This might get tricky, so ask for adult help if you need it.
Pull the yarn off the fork and cut both ends of the looped yarn with scissors. (You may need an adult's help with this part, too.) Make sure not to cut the piece of yarn that was used to tie
Next, cut out and glue together two rectangular pieces of felt. You can also cut out and glue on a letter or shape. Finally, glue the mini pom-pom to the end of the bookmark. Now that you have your own bookmark...start reading!
