Pool Noodle Drum Sticks
These drum sticks are easy to make, fun to play with and--best of all--not too loud and safe on breakables, including siblings. We've had a great time finding all the great places to drum around the house.
How We Did It
Gather your pool noodles. Together with your child, gather various containers that can be used as a drum set. Choose containers made of varying materials that will make different sounds. We used metal and plastic bowls, an old wipes container, a plastic pencil box, and a tin baking pan.
Cut two 12- to 14-inch segments off your pool noodle to make a pair of drum sticks. This is a grown-up step!
I cut a different colored pair of sticks for each child so everyone knows which one is theirs, minimizing squabbles.
Use your containers to set up the drumming area.
Form a band with a sibling or a friend.
Put on some fun music and find more things to drum on. Our favorites include our exercise ball, couch cushions and the dining room table.
