Did you know you probably have art supplies sitting in your toolbox? Sandpaper isn't just for woodworking--it's a fun drawing surface too! My daughters and I love to draw on sandpaper with leaves: The colors are brighter and more vibrant.

How We Did It

Sandpaper Leaves

Collect some leaves and observe their shapes. Draw a leaf on a quarter sheet of sandpaper (approx. 4" x 5") with dark blue or black crayon. Don't forget to add the veins (those little lines in the middle of the leaf)!

Sandpaper Leaves
Now, color your sandpaper leaves any color you want. You can make them fall colors like orange, yellow, and red or you can make colorful rainbow leaves like we did! Did you know that drawing on sandpaper will help sharpen your crayons?
Sandpaper Leaves
Color as many different leaves as you wish - they can be all different shapes and colors!

When you are finished coloring in your leaves, you can cut them out with a pair of scissors and tape them up in a window, or use them to decorate your house. Happy leaf making!
