Foil is such a fun canvas for children to use in art. I think that's probably because it makes fun, shiny art! We decided a shiny whale would be fun to make...and one colored like a rainbow was even better!

How We Did It

Shiny Whale
First, we grabbed a scrap piece of cardboard. My daughter drew a whale right onto the cardboard.

I helped to cut our whale out and we got out the aluminum foil. You'll need a sheet big enough to wrap the cardboard with.

We started wrapping. The kids liked doing this step solo!

Cut the foil between the body and tail, and fold it over.

That was it. Now time for color! Permanent markers are a must on foil. Washable markers will just rub off.

We loved this project. I think we will be making some more shiny sea creatures in the future!
