My kids love talking about all the things they love now, the things they used to love, and even the things they may love someday. For a Valentine's Day project, we decided to make a little mobile that has hanging hearts of the things they love right now. It would be fun to add on more hearts over time and see how the things they love grows from year to year.
We went with traditional Valentine's Day colors, but of course any color would be fine. We used two craft sticks per mobile.
We started by cutting out some hearts from the paper. Both my five-year-old and three-year-old decided that this step was too hard for them. You could trace hearts for your kids to cut out by themselves or use a large heart paper punch instead.
Then we prepared the base of the mobile by crossing two sticks over each other and then wrapping the center with yarn to secure. Then we wrapped each section of the stick.
Once everything was wrapped, we simply knotted the yarn then created a loop of yarn in the center (so that we could hang the mobiles).
Then for the fun part: finding out what your kids love right now. My five-year-old wrote on his hearts, while my three-year-old told me what to write on hers. It was so fun chatting with the kids about what they loved and why!
