Tie Dye Cloth Napkins
Using cloth napkins is not only good for the earth, but also teaches children about wasting less and going green! Why not do it in a fun way and make a few tie-dye napkins. Great way to start the school year.
How We Did It
You can use one of the prepackaged dye kits for this or just prepare clothing dye in squirt bottles. Be sure to wear plastic gloves, the dyes are hard to remove from skin!
Dampen your cloth napkins and pull from the center twisting and rubber banding as you go. The more bands, the more contrast you get.
This is what we ended up with. Now for the color!
My daughter chose blue, green and purple dye. She alternated colors with each rubber band. Once they were fully saturated with color we added to a plastic bag and let sit over night. The next day I cut off the bands and gave a good wash and dry.
Love seeing what we created! They are all so unique and beautiful. This will not only be a fun napkin to add to the kid's school lunches, but a warm reminder of family during those first few days of school.
