Wishing Well Game
It's hard for my kids to pass a water fountain without wanting to throw a penny in. I'm not sure if they actually make a wish or just love tossing the coin, but that is what inspired this game.
How We Did It
Add water to a large container, sand table, or baby pool. Use a few different-sized, plastic containers. Smaller containers can float on the water and become a moving target. Add water to the bottom of larger containers so they will sink to the bottom and be held in place. I also added another floating target with green craft foam.
Now the fun begins! Take turns tossing pennies into the wishing well. Make wishes if you want to or assign different point values to each container (like we did) and see who can score the most points.
Get extra points for the narrow containers or for the floating targets. For an extra challenge, try turning around and throwing it over your shoulder. Adding up the points and keeping score was important to my 6 year old, but my 3 year old was just happy to have one land in a container.
They also decided to try to get the pennies out of the water with tongs and spoons which turned out to be quite a challenge. I think this would be a really fun party game at a pirate themed party or with themed containers to toss the coins into.
