We have done this simple craft for many different occasions. We have made hearts, shamrocks and flower shapes, but on this day (with quickly-approaching spring in mind) we decided to make Easter eggs!
How We Did It
We used a batch of homemade glue made with cornstarch for this. You can use any type of glue you have. Cut your yarn strands about 8-10 inches long
My five-year old began dipping the the yarn into the glue and making egg shapes on the wax paper.
Once she had the shape right she filled in the egg with more yarn.
We let the yarn eggs dry overnight and peeled them right off the wax paper in the morning.
The yarn stiffened! We were left with beautiful decorative Easter eggs that could be hung in a window or added to the top of a gift.
